About monti

Hi, I’m Lauren, the founder of Monti.

I’ve spent 20 years working in fashion design.
When I had my baby Frankie and went looking for some decent clothes to breastfeed in, I couldn’t believe how limited it was. Everything on offer seemed to trade style for function, as if the two couldn’t coexist.  As if breastfeeding mothers should just be grateful for anything that “worked.”

I wasn’t grateful. I was frustrated. Frustrated that feeding my baby seemed to mean giving up feeling like myself.  Frustrated that an entire category of women were quietly being told that looking good, and feeling like themselves, wasn’t really the point anymore.  I don’t believe that.  Breastfeeding mothers deserve to be seen, not hidden behind shapeless, purely functional clothing. We deserve real options: clothes we’d choose to wear anyway, that function for feeding too.  That’s why I started Monti.

What I’m trying to do differently

I design every piece the way I’d design anything else, thinking about style, fit, fabric, how it moves, whether I’d actually reach for it on a normal Tuesday. Then I build the nursing access into that design, rather than starting with the access and bolting style on afterwards.

A small brand, built properly

Monti is designed by me, drawing on two decades in fashion, and built in small, considered runs rather than rushed out to fill a shop with stock for the sake of it. I’d rather get it right than get it out fast.

Thank you for being here.
