The short version

When you shop with us, you're trusting us with your details. Here's how we look after them: the short version first, with the detail underneath.

  • Who looks after your data. LTFR Limited, trading as Monti. See clause 1.
  • What we collect. What you give us when you order, sign up or get in touch, and how you use our website. See clause 2.
  • What we use it for. To get your order to you, look after you as a customer and run our business. We only send you marketing if you've said yes. See clauses 4 and 5.
  • We never sell your data. We share it only with the companies that help us run Monti, and we name them in clause 7.
  • You're in control. You can unsubscribe at any time, choose which cookies we use, and ask to see, correct or delete your data. See clause 11.

1. Who looks after your data?

1.1 Monti is a trading name of LTFR Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15188075, with our registered office at 2 Mayroyd Mill, Mayroyd Lane, Hebden Bridge HX7 8NY. In this policy, “Monti”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean LTFR Limited.

1.2 We're responsible for your personal data as its “controller” under UK data protection law, which means we decide how and why it's used.

1.3 This policy explains how we use your personal data when you visit our website, buy from us, sign up to our emails, leave a review, enter a competition or giveaway, or get in touch with us, including through social media.

1.4 Questions about this policy or your data? Email hello@monticlothing.co.uk or write to us at our registered office.

1.5 Our website isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect data about them.

2. What do we collect?

2.1 Depending on how you use our website and deal with us, we may collect:

  • Your details. Your name, email address, phone number, and billing and delivery addresses.
  • Your orders. What you've bought, when, what you paid, and any preorders, cancellations, returns or refunds.
  • Payment information. Your payment is processed by our payment providers, so we never see or store your full card details. We only see limited information, such as the type of card and its last four digits.
  • Your account. If you sign in to an account, your sign-in email, saved addresses and order history.
  • Your marketing choices. Whether you've signed up to our emails, and which of our emails you open or click.
  • How you use our website. The pages and products you look at, what you add to your basket, how you arrived at our site, and technical details such as your device, browser and approximate location based on your IP address. Most of this is collected through cookies (see clause 6).
  • What you tell us. Your messages to us, your reviews (including any photos you add), your answers to any survey, and your competition or giveaway entries.

2.2 Our clothes are designed for breastfeeding, but we don't ask for information about your health, and we don't use what you buy or browse to draw conclusions about your health or to target advertising at you on that basis. If you choose to tell us something personal, for example in a message or a review, please only share what you're comfortable with. We'll use it only to reply to you or, for a review, to publish it as you wrote it.

3. Where does it come from?

3.1 Most of it comes from you directly: when you order, create an account, sign up to our emails, leave a review, enter a competition or contact us.

3.2 Some is collected automatically as you use our website, through cookies and similar technologies (see clause 6).

3.3 We may also receive data from others, including:

  • Payment providers and Shopify, for example when they check an order for fraud.
  • Shop, if you sign in with your Shop account.
  • Social media platforms, when you tag us, message us or enter a giveaway we run on Instagram or TikTok.

4. What do we use it for?

4.1 We use your data to:

  • Take and deliver your order, including preorders, payment, delivery, cancellations, returns and refunds, and email you about it.
  • Run your account, if you have one.
  • Answer your messages and deal with complaints.
  • Prevent fraud and keep our website secure.
  • Send you marketing emails if you've signed up, and a reminder if you leave our checkout before finishing your order (see clause 5).
  • Ask for a review after your order arrives.
  • Understand how our website is used, and improve it and our products.
  • Show you our adverts on Instagram and Facebook, and measure how well they work.
  • Show our products in Google search and shopping results, and measure how well those listings work.
  • Run competitions and giveaways.
  • Keep tax and accounting records.
  • Deal with legal claims, and with requests from regulators and other authorities.

4.2 The law only lets us use your personal data where we have a legal reason to. Here's which reason applies to what:

Our legal reason What it covers
Performing our contract with you Taking and delivering your order, running your account, and looking after you as a customer.
Our legitimate interests, meaning running Monti in ways you'd reasonably expect Preventing fraud, keeping our website secure, asking for reviews, reminding you about an unfinished checkout, improving our website and products, running competitions, and protecting our legal rights.
Your consent Marketing emails and any cookies our website doesn't need to work, including those for our adverts on Instagram and Facebook and for measuring our Google listings. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Our legal obligations Keeping tax and accounting records, and responding to regulators and other authorities.

4.3 Shopify and our payment providers automatically check orders for signs of fraud, and a payment provider may decline a payment as a result. If Shopify flags an order to us, one of us looks at it before we decide whether to cancel it. We never let a computer make an important decision about you on its own.

5. Will we send you marketing?

5.1 We only send you marketing emails if you've signed up, for example through a sign-up form on our website or by ticking the box at checkout. That box is never ticked for you.

5.2 If you enter your email address at our checkout but leave before placing your order, we may send you a reminder of what you left behind. It will only be about the items you were buying, and you can tell us to stop using the link in the email or by emailing us. We won't send you any other marketing unless you've signed up.

5.3 You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of our emails, or by emailing us. Unsubscribing won't affect emails about an order you've placed.

5.4 We use Klaviyo to send our emails. Klaviyo receives your details and order history from our Shopify store and records which of our emails you open and click, so we can send emails that are relevant to you.

6. Do we use cookies?

6.1 Cookies are small files saved on your device when you visit a website. Apart from the cookies our website needs to work, we only set cookies if you agree to them through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page. Our Cookie Policy explains which cookies we use and why.

7. Who do we share it with?

7.1 We never sell your personal data. We share it only where we need to, with:

  • Shopify, which runs our website, checkout and customer accounts, and processes card payments through Shopify Payments. You can read Shopify's Consumer Privacy Policy at shopify.com/legal/privacy/consumers.
  • Shop, if you choose to sign in or pay with Shop or Shop Pay.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay, if you choose to pay with them.
  • Klarna, if you choose to pay with Klarna. Klarna may carry out its own checks, such as credit checks, and uses your data under its own privacy policy.
  • Klaviyo, which sends our emails and runs the sign-up forms on our website.
  • Judge.me, which collects and displays our product reviews and sends review requests.
  • Timesact, which manages our preorders.
  • Survey tools, if we ask you to take part in a survey, for example after you place an order. They collect your answers for us, and taking part is always up to you.
  • Our delivery partners, who need your name, address and contact details to deliver your order.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), if you've agreed to advertising cookies.
  • Google, which shows our products in its search and shopping results and, if you've agreed to cookies, measures how well those listings work.
  • People who help us run Monti, such as our email and file storage provider (Google Workspace), our accounting software (FreeAgent), anyone helping us with marketing or customer service, our accountant and our professional advisers, all of whom must keep your data confidential.
  • Regulators, HM Revenue & Customs, the police and other authorities, where the law requires us to.
  • A buyer of our business, if we sell all or part of it, so that they can continue to look after you.

7.2 Most of these companies act only on our instructions. Some, such as payment providers, Shop, Meta and Google, also use your data for their own purposes, under their own privacy policies.

8. Does it leave the UK?

8.1 Some of our providers, such as Shopify and Klaviyo, store or access data in Canada and the United States. When your data goes outside the UK, we make sure it gets the same level of protection it would have here, using the safeguards UK law sets out.

9. How do we keep it safe?

9.1 We use secure, reputable providers, limit access to your data to the people who need it, and protect our accounts with strong passwords and two-step sign-in. If something goes wrong that's likely to put your data at risk, we'll tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office where the law requires us to.

10. How long do we keep it?

10.1 We keep your data only for as long as we need it:

  • Orders and payments: for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, because tax law requires us to keep these records.
  • Your account: until you ask us to close it.
  • Marketing: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep a note of your email address so we don't email you again by mistake.
  • Messages and complaints: for two years after we've dealt with them, or longer if there's an ongoing issue.
  • Reviews: for as long as they're published on our website.
  • Competition and giveaway entries: for six months after the winner is announced, and winners' details for six years.
  • Cookies: for the periods set out in our Cookie Policy.

11. What are your rights?

11.1 You have the right to:

  • See your data, by asking for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct it, if anything is wrong or incomplete.
  • Delete it, unless we need to keep it, for example for tax records.
  • Restrict how we use it, for example while we check whether it's accurate.
  • Object to how we use it, where we rely on our legitimate interests. You can always object to marketing.
  • Move it, by asking us to send it to you or to another organisation in a commonly used format.
  • Withdraw your consent, where we rely on it, for example for marketing emails or cookies. This doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

11.2 To use any of these rights, email hello@monticlothing.co.uk. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. If your request is complex, we may need up to two more months, and we'll tell you if so. We may need to ask you to confirm your identity first, to make sure we don't give your data to the wrong person.

12. How can you complain?

12.1 If you're unhappy with how we've used your data, please tell us using the form on our Contact page or by emailing hello@monticlothing.co.uk. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it, and keep you updated until it's resolved.

12.2 You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

13. Will this policy change?

13.1 We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we start using a new service. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we'll tell you on our website or by email.

14. What about other websites?

14.1 Our website links to other websites and to our social media pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for how they use your data.
